This review aims at explaining the technique that forms the basis of cryptocurrencies, how they have been implemented in different industries, and the advantages and disadvantages of the technology. Topics include financial accessibility, transaction velocity, and emergence of decentralised finance, notable issues involve unpredictability, the lack of clarity concerning regulation, and concerns about the effects on the environment. Lastly, the paper concludes whether introducing the cryptocurrency is revolutionary in the field of finance or just another fad.
