The objective is to develop theoretical-practical guidelines to use the newspaper as didactic materialin teaching mathematics in primary school in Venezuela. The methodology, based on the naturalisticparadigm, uses a qualitative approach through the Constant Comparative Method (CCM). Datacollection included semi-structured interviews, classroom observations and document analysis, for acomprehensive understanding of educational practices and their impacts on learning. Data analysisusing CCM involved coding, comparison, and theorizing to identify key evidence. Strict ethical standardswere followed, ensuring confidentiality and consent of participants. The results reveal that teachersstill use a behaviorist approach, decontextualizing mathematics. As final reflections, it is highlightedthat constructivist teaching links the language of the newspaper with the mathematical language ofthe school curriculum, enriching the educational process and promoting a deeper and morecontextualized understanding of mathematical knowledge
