Multifunctional Drug Delivery Platforms: Bridging Smart Nanocarriers, Bioprinting, and Responsive Systems

Drug delivery technology development revolutionized contemporary medicine with enhanced efficacy and specificity of medicines. This review discusses emerging trends in drug delivery systems that emphasize the role of nanotechnology, biodegradable scaffolds, and 3D bioprinting. Merging personalized medicine and AI-intelligent systems enabled highly efficient and specific delivery systems to be developed. Nanocarriers such as liposomes, invasomes, and lipid nanoparticles have been very promising in drug delivery to disease sites, particularly in cancer. Transdermal and mucosal drug delivery systems with microneedles and invasomes are also revolutionizing the situation of non-invasive therapy. Eco-friendly materials such as biodegradable polymers and green-synthesized nanoparticles provide a greener alternative for drug delivery. The coming together of technology, and the development in implantable 3D printed products, promises the day when drug delivery systems are not merely more efficient and targeted but personalized to a patient's own specific needs.
