The present study highlights the importance of Integral Education for student development, promoting cognitive and socio-emotional skills. It aims to identify if different teaching approaches show differences in performance rates between Integral Education and Regular Education schools. This is a descriptive cross-sectional and qualitative study. Data were collected from public schools in Rio de Janeiro, comparing performance rates between Integral Education and Regular Education before and after the implementation of the proposal. The results indicate that Integral Education schools showed better approval rates compared to Regular Education schools and a significant reduction in failure rates. However, dropout rates were lower in Regular Education schools. It was found that a longer period of adherence to Integral Education resulted in better performance. It is concluded that both modalities showed similar performance rates between 2017 and 2021, with Integral Education standing out in approval and failure rates, while Regular Education achieved better results in dropout rates.
