Entre a prática, a paixão e a potência de transformação: ser educador museal no Museu Dica (2014-2024)

This essay-article aims to share and reflect upon my journey as a museum educator at the Fun with Science and Art Museum (Dica/UFU), between the years 2014 and 2024. It is a text written based on lived experiences and interactions with diverse audiences, colleagues, and contexts. In it, I bring forth questions that emerged during this trajectory: what does it mean to be a museum educator? What is learned and taught in this space? What changes within us when we choose this educational practice? From these questions and my experiences at the Dica Museum, I have developed a perspective grounded in critical and decolonial aspects of Museum Education. I have also sought support in Paulo Freire’s work Extension or Communication, in order to highlight the potential of university museums as spaces of education, resistance, and the reinvention of science in everyday life.
