This article describes and analyzes, from a quantitative and qualitative perspectives, how the Currículo Paulista incorporates the skills from the BNCC, considering the prescribed curricular level for the Portuguese Language subject in lower secondary educacion. Methodologically, the research is based on documentary investigation, articulated with the comparative collation proposed by Geraldi (2012). It was found that the changes in the state document are of four orders - objects of knowledge, fields of action, language practices, and skills - with the latter being the most significant. However, the results indicate that this curriculum tends to maintain what is established in the BNCC, as the main modifications consist of the breakdown of cognitive processes.
