Concerns

  • This paper heavily used AI. The writing felt robotic to me, so I ran it through multiple AI detectors and they all showed that the majority, if not 100% of the paper, was written by AI.

  • If this is intended to be posted as a scientific article (which I assume is likely the case as you have citations, an abstract, and you posted it as a preprint), It is not appropriate to start heavily advertising the usage of the theory presented and asking people to share their experiences using it on your subreddit.

  • If this is intended to be posted as an informational article, I think heavily encouraging its usage is fine, but it’s still not appropriate to advertise your subreddit.

  • Calling yourself ‘Founder, Boredom Cadence Theory’ can be quite problematic as the theory presented is not recognised by a broad academic community.

  • A lot of the claims made are not properly backed up. The only time you used your references was to explain why boredom aids in creativity, emotion, and memory.

  • ”Psychology pushes more—more focus, more therapy, more apps—yet anxiety, depression, and burnout climb.” There are many things wrong with this statement. Firstly, the word ‘Psychology’ is a broad field of science. The research your theory is rooted in is subsumed under psychology – this makes the entire sentence contradictory. Second, there is nothing wrong with pushing for more therapy, especially when the issues you’ve stated are on the rise. Lastly, saying psychology pushes for more focus is very vague.

  • ’Measure well-being (WHO-5), anxiety (STAI-6), and creativity pre/post.’ Measuring creativity is the most challenging part, yet it is the only part that you do not inform your reader on.

  • The concept of “Boredom Cadence Attunement” already exists. It’s called meditation.
