Does the introduction explain the objective of the research presented in the preprint?
Yes
It lays out what the current materials and methods are available and their individual drawbacks telling the reader what needs to develop to approach next generation wound healing capabilities.
Are the methods well-suited for this research?
Somewhat appropriate
There are some experiments that can be added and further characterization that can be done some that are expected in a fiber paper. Such as images of the electrospun fibers, contact angles, mechanical properties to name a few.
Are the conclusions supported by the data?
Somewhat supported
Missing control studies. No discussion of why the certain results was observed is mentioned there is no comparison against existing materials to talk about the significance of their system
Are the data presentations, including visualizations, well-suited to represent the data?
Somewhat appropriate and clear
The graphics are not high resolution, and the legends are not consistent neither is the color scheme making it difficult to keep track of the results and compare. However, they do explain them in a good way without any reasoning as to why certain results are present and what is the significance of such an observation.
How clearly do the authors discuss, explain, and interpret their findings and potential next steps for the research?
Neither clearly nor unclearly
Is the preprint likely to advance academic knowledge?
Highly likely
The scope of the paper this is a good method paper setting up for a bigger and deeper study that needs to be followed. However, it will benefit with some controls that they mention the negative impacts of and showcase how their system is better relative to the other present materials.
Would it benefit from language editing?
Yes
Grammar: The functionalized nanofibrous mat was characterized and in-vitro cytotoxicity and scratch wound assay were conducted to determine the efficacy of the developed wound healing aid. Periods are missing through out in the text as well
Would you recommend this preprint to others?
Yes, but it needs to be improved
Is it ready for attention from an editor, publisher or broader audience?
Yes, after minor changes
The title should not have any abbreviations it makes it very limited for people who do not know the field reducing the outreach of the paper Similarly in the abstract, the first time you use an abbreviation you need to write it all out so the reader follows through. Either avoid or explain. The introduction is missing references, for example here “Poly(L-lactic acid (PLLA) is synthesized from the polymerization of the L-form of lactic acid. The utilization of PHBV alongside PLLA improves the biocompatibility and wettability of electrospun polymer scaffolds used for tissue engineering over neat electrospun PLLA.” Such claims can not be made without a solid reference Similarly “To increase wound healing properties and promote peptide adsorption, PHBV was functionalized with –COOH group. PHBV and PLLA were blended together in order to increase stability and electrospun to form a nano fibrous mat.” No discussion of why the certain results were observed is mentioned there is no comparison against existing materials to tell about the significance of their system No application on an actual wound model other than just viability test However, for the scope of the paper this is a good method paper setting up for a bigger and deeper study that needs to be followed. However it will benefit with some controls that they mention the negative impacts of and showcase how their system is better relative to the other present materials.
