O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender as percepções de alunos e professores em relação às avaliações enquanto parte do processo ensino-aprendizagem. Trata-se de estudo qualitativo baseado em entrevistas semiestruturadas de sete alunos e seis professores. Utilizou-se a técnica de análise de conteúdo na classificação dos dados e o referencial teórico-metodológico da antropologia hermenêutica na interpretação. Observou-se desvalorização das provas teóricas e a preferência por instrumentos de domínio psicomotor e afetivo. Um achado inesperado foi a ansiedade relacionada às avaliações, com percepção negativa pelos alunos e positiva pelos professores. A avaliação é parte fundamental do processo ensino-aprendizagem e deve incluir os diferentes domínios, incluindo o cognitivo, para ser fidedigna. Apesar da percepção positiva do processo de avaliação, a desvalorização das avaliações cognitivas e a ansiedade associadas ao processo avaliativo são pontos de alerta que precisam ser analisados de forma mais aprofundada.
