For many years, it was believed that Dinorá de Carvalho was born in 1905 or on June 1st, 1904. Flávio Carvalho's research helped to push back the year of her birth to 1895. These dates are reconsidered in this article, whose objectives are: to propose a new birth date for the composer; to contextualize some social dynamics of Uberaba-MG at the end of the 19th century; to present a possible year of her family's move to São Paulo-SP; to establish the date and year of enrollment at the São Paulo Dramatic and Musical Conservatory (CDMSP); and to deconstruct the narrative created by the composer about her birth date. The methodology employed was the analysis of the following documents: civil registration certificate, baptismal record, CDMSP enrollment form, periodicals, and a composer's autobiographical note. As a main result, it is concluded that Dinorá de Carvalho's birth date is March 3rd, 1895.
