Rarely, respiratory viruses and their representatives could cause severe acute myocarditis, with progression to cardiogenic shock in young adults. This is a descriptive case report detailing the procedures adopted at an academic hospital during the period of professional training for the intensive care medical residency, seeking to anchor the practical procedures in the available literature on the subject, however scarce it may be. The objective of this report is to expose its occurrence, given its low incidence, as a form of academic contribution and as a provocateur of opinions based on evidence in the management of a cardiogenic shock that culminated in a successful heart transplant.
