Over the years, unequal urbanization in Latin America—reflected in the growth of informal settlements in countries such as Brazil and Argentina—has been a recurrent focus of academic studies. The goal of this article was to map recent publications (2019–2022), with a focus on Brazil and Argentina, focused on the policy and legal structures surrounding housing initiatives in informal settlements at promoting the right to adequate housing in Latin America. The methodology involved bibliometric and scientometric analysis of publications from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The results revealed a scarcity of comparative Latin American studies, limited collaboration among regional researchers, and emerging interdisciplinary thematic trends.
